This
years Mountain and Moorland Charity Show was held on Easter Sunday
at Coombe Park Stables, Camarthen with the aim of raising money
for four very worthy charities - Lluest, NSPCC, Cancer Research
and Many Tears Rescue.
Despite heavy winter showers competitors turned out in droves
and everyone was certainly into the spirit of the event as there
was hardly a moan from those who were forced to queue to find
parking spaces inside.
While mainly supported by the Welsh ponies the organisers were
also delighted to see Miniature Shetlands, Connemara and a Exmoor
Pony also taking part.
In all 14 classes were organised with the competitors all hoping
to win either a cup or a bespoke rosettes. These classes led
on to the Championships and Supreme Championship all sponsored
by Studs and Businesses.
The stewards did an outstanding job in difficult circumstances
and the organisers cannot be thank them enough for their sterling
work.
The shows main objectives were to have a fun day, raise as much
as possible for the charities and try to reward as many rosettes
and trophies as possible. Thanks to major sponsorship there was
hardly a head without a Blue Chip cap or a competitor without
a Robinson prize.
Congratulations have to go to Traci Wilson with Rhydgwillim
Reginald by Colne Heartsease, C.Edwards for winning the M&M
Youngstock Champion with her yearling Section A Colt Stremda
Diamond by Northgrove Llewwllyn and Kailey Launchbery with her
Stunning Section D Colt Brenin-y-Gwryd for taking the reserve
spot. Gwenela Ruth & Laura Landon for winning Supreme Champion
with their palomino lead rein pony with one of our youngest competitors
on board and standing Reserve Cara Barrett with Ashgrove Crackerjack
probably the most senior entry at twenty three years - a cracking
section C stallion by Fronarth Welsh Jack.
The show organisers
would like to say a big thank you to all who attended in support
of the show and a special thank you to those who sponsored the
classes and the championships along with Merlin Homes Wales who
sponsored the rosettes. |
