Dartmoor Foals In Need Of Names!

The Dartmoor Pony Training Centre has recently taken on seven more foals following the Dartmoor Pony Sales in October and December.

The foals, which unfortunatly did not find buyers, are all bay or brown colts.

However, despite bringing home these seven, Natalie Torr from the Dartmoor Pony Training Centre said it was pleasing to see that there were not as many ponies unsold as in previous years and at the December sale in Tavistock prices were surprisingly higher than they have been in past years perhaps boosted by the fact that plenty of people turned up despite the torrential rain!

The Dartmoor Pony Training Centre now intend to get the new foals handled and then castrated in the Spring, before they are rehomed to permanent loan homes.

Two of the ponies have names but the other five need names as soon as possible. At the moment two bay colts who came from Tavistock in October are simply know as the Tavistock Brothers as they are from the same herd and look very alike so believed to be brothers! There is also one named Scaredy for the time being as he is extremely nervous, he came from Chagford in October and is a brown colt; finally there are another two brown foals who came from Tavistock in December, one has a white star the other is plain.

The Dartmoor Pony Training Centre are now asking for any suggestions for names for these foals and as an encouragment will offer a free sponsorship pack worth £15 to the person who suggests a name which is subsequently used. These packs include regular updates on the Centre and the pony sponsored as well as a certificate, photo and welcome letter. Sponsors also receive a birthday and Christmas card.

All name suggestions should be either e-mailed to the Dartmoor Pony Training Centre at dartmoorponytrainingcentre@yahoo.co.uk
or sent to
Dartmoor Pony Training Centre, Ashburn Cottage, Kingsbridge Lane, Ashburton, Devon, TQ13 7DX.

If any one is interested in sponsoring a pony or possibly offering a home to one of the foals in the future then please ring the Centre on 01364 654609.
